CPF Members are eligible to participate in a very competitive GROUP life insurance program underwritten by Boston Mutual. The advantage of GROUP life insurance is that it has minimal medical underwriting, so that is very convenient, and easy to enroll. And it is available for FAMILY members, so that a single premium protects our member firefighter, the spouse, and all dependent children.
The disadvantage of GROUP life insurance is that the premium is age-based, meaning it becomes more costly as the Member grows older. By comparison, the INDIVIDUAL policies described here have a cost that remains fixed for a specific period of usually 10, 20 or 30 years.
